I live in California and my family is from El Grullo, Jalisco. From what I have learned from my family members is that our name originates from Armenia. How it came about to Mexico I don't really know. I know many many years ago Countries like Armenia used to transport there unwanted's to Mexico and South America. How true this is...not sure. But I am just relaying what I have been told.
