Loza in LA_grandfather from Jalisco

Posted by Robert (Bob) Loza <cyranobob@aol.com> on Fri, 19 Oct 2007, in response to i'm a loza, posted by amanda on Sun, 02 Mar 2003

My Grandfather is Jose Loza, originally from San Miguel del Alto in Jalisco or thereabouts. We are pretty much totally enculturated Americans by now - my dad (Ruben G. Loza) was a Marine in WW2, but our cultural memory is strong.
The Loza's have been in Mexico farther back than anyone can verify, although some of my aunts have stories about Austrian or French emigrants. Frankly, I have never seen any proof of these stories. We know there are Loza's in Spain, Egypt, Eastern Europe and the Ukraine, but I have no clue where the 'original' Loza came from.
Good fortune.
