Thomas Drake Horton of Michigan
Posted by Jennifer <tilhaven@tpg.com.au> on Fri, 12 Sep 2003
I am researching Thomas Drake Horton in Rochester, Oakland Co., MI trying to verify, or otherwise, that his parents were Benjamin Rush Horton, b: 1790 PA and Jane Zavitz b: 1792 Canada. This couple did have a Thomas D. born in the right year and place. However, my Thomas named his first son Lewis,[with his wife Lydia M. JARVIS, b: MI c. 1837] and said in each census that his parents were born in NY. There was a Lewis Avery Horton and Henrietta SAGER in Commerce, Oakland Co. - his father was a Thomas Horton...but have not as yet found that Lewis and Henrietta even had a son Thomas! I have found my Thomas in 1870 and 1880 census, the last being in Lyons, Ionia Co., MI with second wife Jane [widow of James KING, nee DORMAN b: 1841 Nova Scotia] and their son Earl Drake Horton. Can anyone add any verifying information about any of them? I have heard of the Zavitz line to Canada and back to France but nothing as yet on Benjamin Rush Horton, other than he named a son the same and have since heard bits about THE Dr. Benjamin Rush who signed the Declaration of Independance. Lewis Avery's folk trace back to the Mayflower, perhaps Benjamin Rush Horton has a fascinating history too? And what's with that middle name of Drake? Sir Francis?Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
