origins of Hosker name

Posted by Garry Hornby <ghornby@mts.net> on Wed, 30 Apr 2003, in response to Hosker tree, posted by Ralph Hosker on Thu, 06 Feb 2003

My mothers maiden name was Hosker. We have been led to believe that our maternal grandfather was Russian but have not been able to validate this. My mother was born in Padiam (near Burnley) in Lancs. England in the 1890's.

We would be very grateful for any information regarding this.
