Searching for August Hering

Searching for August Hering, born in Dresden, Saxony, between approx 1834 and 1847. He was my great-grandfather. Name of ship that he arrived on is unknown. He settled in Washington, DC and/or surrounding Maryland and Virginia; first wife died (6 or 7 children) and he remarried in the late 1870's. Children were in the German Orphan Asylum in Washington, DC, in the 1870's. He brought them out after he remarried. I believe he died in Northern Virginia. Some of his children's names were: Charles, August, Lydia, and perhaps Ella or Ellie.Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
