FROM AN O'FLYNN 2 A FLYNN
Posted by patrick flynn <patrickflynn47@yahoo.com> on Tue, 02 Aug 2005, in response to Re: Patrick Flynn from Ireland, posted by DMB on Sat, 26 Apr 2003
I am YET ANOTHER Patrick Flynn, living in cape town south africa. I am trying to trace my family tree back to Cork, Ireland , where my great grandfather PATRICK O' FLYNN, was born probably around the late 1800's. All we know of him is that he came over to South Africa in his early adulthood and was a rather large man and a good fighter. He would often take on fights in the pub, until one night a group of men attacked and beat him to death somewhere outside a pub in johannesburg south africa. he died at age 29. At some stage, he had the 'O' dropped from his surname, thus becoming a FLYNN.his son also Patrick, married a south african lady who was adopted by a salvation army family. her name was Ira. Both my grandparents Patrick and Ira Flynn died around 1970-1974 in south africa. My late father, Colin Flynn(1939-2004), along with late brothers Roly, Rodney, Cliffy, and sisters carol, murielle and Avril all grew up in Johannesburg south africa. If anyone can give advice or knows of my familys whereabouts please email me.many thanksResponses
