Geraldine Farrar

There have been several posts by individuals claiming to be opera diva Geraldine Farrar's great-great nephew or niece. As Geraldine was an only child this purported relationship is impossible. Geraldine and my grandmother, Mary Edith Howe, were first cousins. Their mothers were sisters: Geraldine's, Henrietta Barnes and my grandmother's, Mary Barnes. Henrietta married Sidney Farrar. Mary married George Howe of Medford, Massachusetts. The Barnes family were of Melrose, Massachusetts. Sidney Farrar, who was named for his father, was born in South Paris, Maine.
