Looking for Jas Dunn...
Posted by Vickie Johnson <vickierj@aol.com> on Tue, 29 Dec 2009
I'm trying to find a man that ran off with my ggreat uncle Ransom Blackwell. He came to my uncle's farm with a Sheriff's deputy and accused him of stealing his slave Jas Dunn. My uncle told the slave trader (James J Hughes) to follow him to his house and he would make good on his debt, only when they got to my uncle's house, my uncle pulled out a double barrel shot gun and shot him dead! My old letter says Jas ran off with my uncle, so I'm trying to find out anything I can about why my uncle would have stolen Jas. I would especially like to think that Jas made it to safety. My uncle and family fled to SE Missouri where the family still resides today. Wondering if Jas made it. I would appreciate any information anybody might have. I've been looking for 10 yrs, so it may be a hopeless search, but I hope not.Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
