Dickerson Genealogy

Hello, I have been doing genealogy for a few years now and I am confused about the genealogy of John Wesley Michael Dickerson, my great-grandfather. He married twice. Once to a woman with the last name of Baker in Virginia and had several kids by her and then she died...he then moved to West Virginia where he married Maude Evelyn McClung and had several kids, including my grandfather, Forrest Love Dickerson (Sr.) who married Ethel Nora White. John Dickerson was born in Appomattox Va in 1843...or around there. John was a confederate soldier in the civil war. It is said that his parents were William F. Dickerson and Mary Jane Maddox. I need to know if anyone has anything further on this family line. Thank you!
