Subject: Rijavec familymy name is Kristjan Rijavec from Slovenia. Exactly from Nova Gorica, city very near to Trieste. If i precise a little bit more i live in a village near Nova Gorica called Rijavci. This is a verry small village, currently of about 150 people. At the past all residents were Rijavec by surname. Nowadays this changed. I did some researches on Rijavec surname and found out that quite all people with this surname have a connection with the village.
If you can provide me with more information on your grandma (name...etc) i can help you. Please write me on kristjan.rijavec@datapan.si
Kristjan Rijavec
Hvala
Sharon
i really appreciated your contact, especially that you are learning Slovenian. I do not personally know you but for sure your family. I live just 50 m behind Aleksander. Old name of my house is Tomejščevi. I am 30 years old, married and i have a sun Vid. My dad Marko is the same age as Martin - Martinko, so when they were children was his best friend. I do not know who is your father, but i know Martin and Boris, who was actually here in Trnovo this year. I meet here in Trnovo- Rijavci also the other two of four brothers Otton or Florjan, i do not remember exactlly who - i was too young :).
As i know we are related.
It will be interesting to have some other news from you.
Thanks, Kristjan
I write you from Argentina. While surfing the web about genealogy I found out your response to Susan Giambalbo and Sharon Rijavec last year about Rijavec Family.
My name is Fernando Gustavo Riavec, I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. My surname was badly translated to Spanish. My father Mario was born in Argentina in 1930. My grandfather Leopoldo Rijavec came from Genova in 1924. He was born at Tarnova (according to his Italian passport Prov of Friuli at that time) on 19-11-1898. I believe that Tarnova is Trnovo in Slovenian and is Slovenian territory. His parents were Pietro Rijavec and Caterina Rebek or Rebeck.
I have never been able to meet my grandmother, who died when my father was still young. Her name was Maria Gorian, she was born approximately in1905 and I do not have other data than her parents names: Francisco Gorian and Josefina Zizmondi. I believe they were from Gorizia.
We may be related. I am in the search of my roots, and would highly appreciate if you can give me directions on my research and how can I look for my relatives and history.
Thanks and best regards, Fernando Rijavec
