John Bray possibly born Virginia

I am searching for John Bray (b. abt. 1823) married to Mary Ann King. They had 7 children that I know of: Charles (b. abt 1849), Marietta (b. abt 1851), Elizabeth (b. Jan. 1853 in West Virginia), Sarah (b. abt 1854), Amellia Ann (b. June 1861 Kanawha County, West Virginia), Julia (b. abt 1863) and Daniel Myers (b. abt 1864). There are conflicting stories about Mary King in that family legend says she was born in England but census records of her children put her birthplace as Virginia. It is also legend that John was possibly indian. However that has not been proven and if true then he passed for white. (In West Virginia it was illegal to own land if you were a Native American) His family is the only family in the 1850 Virginia census living in what is present day West Virginia.
