Mary Botto Paintings
Posted by escardille <escardille@comcast.net> on Mon, 30 Oct 2006
I couldn’t find the website I found a few weeks ago that featured an antiques store’s list of people who were looking for Mary Botto. I tried and tried until I got a bright idea. My 39”x50” painting features a red windmill between two structures that look like a cathedral on the left and a factory of some sort on the right. It’s impressionistic, with a statue on the right, and a horse and carriage carrying people, and old lamp post on the left. There are many more people milling about.Long story short… I finally searched “windmill botto” and there it was, but it was a 16”x18” with fewer features than on the larger one I purchased at a secondhand shop in Warminster, PA, and the asking price was $100. I think it may have been a “trial run” for the larger one I purchased (for $100).
If you have the means to notify the list of people looking for this woman, maybe you’d be able to tell them to pick a feature and zoom in on that, plus the name of Botto.
Oh yes, I almost forgot. The website I found a few weeks ago showed a person who bought a group of items at an estate auction. Among the items was a Mary Botto painting with a price tag of $6,000.00 on the painting itself.
Still don’t know who she is or where she comes from.
Good luck to all who are searching for Mary Botto.
