Philip Blishen

Posted by A O Blishen <aob1932@hotmail.com> on Mon, 20 Jul 2009, in response to husbands family, posted by K. Blishen on Mon, 28 Jan 2002

If Philip is the person I strongly suspect him to be, he is one of the sons of my father's first marriage. In rough order of age they went Charles, Bernard, Hugh, Laurie, Philip, John and Peter. There were also two daughters, Molly and Joan.
Philip joined the RAOC (Royal Army Ordnance Corps) very young. I last saw him when I was a child in the Isle of Wight during WW II. He was then a young man. Charles and Bernard emigrated to Canada in the 30s and served in the Canadian forces during WW II.
Philip's father (and mine) was Henry Charles Adolphus Blishen
(Google under H C A) - 1890-1980 - himself one of four brothers one of whom was the father of Edward Blishen, the author whose autobiographical books contain much lightly disguised family history.
