Information on MABEL BIDWELL born before 1902, died in Connecticut

Posted by Lauren Lyga <shortstuff5588@sbcglobal.net> on Thu, 06 Mar 2008

I am looking for more information on my great great grandmother MABEL BIDWELL and her family. Bidwell is Mabel’s married name, and I am not sure of her maiden name. I do know that she is of English descent and she died in Connecticut, perhaps in Willimantic.

I also know that her daughter’s name was Florence Bidwell (my great grandmother). Florence Bidwell married Arthur Short and they had 5 children:
Henry Short (died at age 2)
Arthur Short
Mabel Short
Danny Short
Mary Agli (Short) (my grandmother born 4/4/1938)

Since my grandmother was born in 1938, I am assuming that Mabel was born in 1902 at the latest, but I am assuming she was born earlier than this.

I know that there are many Bidwell’s in Connecticut and I also know that John Bidwell (1620-1687) was one of the documented founders of Hartford, Connecticut. I know a lot of genealogical work has been done on this Bidwell line and I was wondering if Mabel and her husband are perhaps linked to this line.

Any information on MABEL BIDWELL is appreciated; especially information on her husband, parents, her husband’s parents, their children, her or her husband’s siblings, and their lifestyles. I am currently enrolled in a family history/genealogy class at my university and I would love to find out as much as possible.

Thanks again,
Lauren Lyga
