Where did the common name William Henry originate?

My family is trying to find out information about our descendants from the Petersburf, VA area, 1900's. There was a woman named Laura Wright who had a son named William Henry Wright. She later married William Henry Tatum and had two more children, Joseph and John Tatum. I'm told she was part Mattaponi Indian. If there is anyine with any information about her, please respond. Also I'm very curious why so many men were named "William Henry"in the late 1800's to early 1900's. Could it be a slave name given in honor of president William Henry Harrison?Responses
