I played with John
Posted by Ed McCurdy <brattlers@yahoo.com> on Wed, 16 Aug 2006, in response to Ellison John W, posted by Sonia Daigle on Wed, 21 Dec 2005
My name is Ed McCurdy.A piano keyboardist vocalist from Washington D.C. I first met John in N.C. at a beach club working as a security guard.I was on a break in the hall of the beach club tinkering some blues and jazz on an old upright. When this huge gentleman walked up behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said,"Boy where did you learn how to play that piano". In full uniform with 3 min to go on my break he introduced himself to me. We played the night time is the right time by Ray Charles and it changed my life musically.Well John was a timeshare owner at the beach club I worked at.He had all of the family you described with him plus his mother.Long story short,he said I am gonna work with you.He went to the secretarys in the main office and said,He wont be showing up for work next week, hes gonna go on the road with me.The office staff knew who he was and I of course was in shock when he said that to them. This is the man who wrote "Some Kinda Wonderful".and he wants me to work with him.Well he left with a few of my demos.I called his house in Dundas, his wife said hes in New York recording. And that was the last I heard from my buddy. Short but sweet. I need to seek John ellison just to see him again. And to exp.the great music we played together at the time that we did. Now I am a successful rb,blues artist in Florida.Because he inspiried me to go that direction. Please contact me if you have found your dad.Because I have to say thanks to him for making my life a better place because of music. And please contact me any time you wish I would love to talk to you about the search. Thank you and good luck and god bless youEd McCurdy
