McMillans
Posted by Rena McMillan Nunley <nunleyfamily@mps.com.br> on Sat, 20 Aug 2005, in response to Family tree?, posted by Alexander George McMillan on Thu, 19 Dec 2002
In looking at what the internet had to offer re: McMillans, I came across your message. I noticed that one of the responses said that McMillan means "son of millan". Actually, it means "son of the mill hand". My father is a McMillan from Lenoir, North Carolina in the US, but I don't know how far back they came from Scotland...maybe as much as 3 generations before him. McMillan can be spelled so many different ways(as every McMillan will eventually find out!). My father wrote a few books, and one is called "Vagabond On Victory Road", which tells of when he was a teen during The Great Depression of the US during the '30's. If you would like to read the book, let me know, and I will have him send it to you. Who knows, you may be reading about some distant cousin of yours!I am a Baptist missionary in Brazil.
Hoping to hear from you,
Rena Nunley
