Ashland

Visited Ashland before it was purchased by Shell Chemical. It had just had a new roof installed - caretaker named Frank was there. He showed us all around, had us sign the guest book. Said that repairs were slowly taking place. The interior was in good condition and some of the rooms had Prudent Mallard furniture. Frank said they were slowly trying to restore it. Visited again several years later, probably 1995, wild horses were roaming the grounds, all fenced in, could not enter and no Frank. Now understand Shell Chemical owns it as their plant is close by. Not open to the public - what a shame. The most magnificent house I've ever seen. Just serene and gorgeous.Responses
