Isabelle Sanders

Posted by Kathy Stewart <quiltingkms@sbcglobal.net> on Thu, 28 Oct 2004

Looking for information on Isabelle Sanders. She possibly married Moses Rainey. Moses and Isabelle were listed in the 1900 census for Chester Co, SC. They were living with Anderson Green - Isabelle's step-father. Isabelle was going by the surname Sanders - even though she was listed as married to Moses. They were listed as married 15 years which suggest that they got married around 1885.

There were two children living in the Green household: Catherine Rainey and Fannie Rainey. They were listed as Andrson's niece's, but it is known that they were Isabelle's children.

In the 1910 census for Chester Co, SC, Isabelle is still going by the surname Sanders and listed as married and head of household. Living with her was Catherine and her grandchildren: William and Fannie (after Catherine's sister). William was listed as Isabelle's son and Fannie was listed as Isabelle's granddaughter. But it is known that they were Catherine's children.

When Isabelle died her surname was listed as Rainey. She died in 1934 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co, NC. She was listed in the 1920 census for Forsyth Co, NC living with daughter Catherine and son-in-law James Crockett - she was listed as widowed.
