Dear Jr,

It's your sister writing ! How are you all??!
I am so sorry to correct you, but we have no direct ancestry from Pres. Andrew Jackson .We are of NO RELATION to him, as no one would be he had no natural children. Many people , back in those days, would give their sons this name, as either a show of great respect for the president, or to hide their "mixed Blood" of cherokee or cherokee children. Again, we are of "No relation"to President Jackson. Our Direct Blakely Line goes back to W.A 1792, to John W Blakely , son of William Blakely b- abt 1763. They appear to have been English or Irish Immigrants. John W. Blakely married Dicey A. in Va . They had several children, one was our GG Grandfather Andrew J Blakely born 1833 OH. The family owned land in Delaware County Niles Twp. Indiana. They were Farmers.,and dedicated Methodist episcopals, and "Hoosiers".
Our Great Grandfather . son of Andrew, and his wife, Isabelle ( Swank), was Montraville M Blakely b- 1862 Jay County Green Twp. Indiana. He was a Blacksmtih, & farmer.

The Native American Link in our family, is most likely "only" through our grandmother Vera.
Lillian (Mead), Blakely ,Parker, Lawson , Smith.
Her mother( Angeline Alley) was English/Scottish, Cherokee, and * Monacan".
The Cherokee surname in the family is Sturgill, and the Monacan( eastern Sioux) is Branham.
Grandmother may also have had some Melungeon roots. (Please search for information regarding this lineage).

Grandmother was a Ky "Mixed Blood" special lady, who had a fascinating life, and history.

Your direct Blakely line, goes back to Indiana, OH and VA.

Love your Little Sis
