Gaddis Name

Posted by Edward D. Gaddis <eddale@verizon.net> on Sat, 26 Jun 2004, in response to Frierson plantation, posted by michelle frierson on Thu, 19 Feb 2004

Hello Michelle,
I'm sorry it has taken so long to respond to your last post but this is my first visit in some time.
I don't know the origin of the FRIERSON name but I think it's German. The GADDIS name is Irish or Scotish. My original family name was GEDDIS but there are many variations of the name. Many branches of the family now go by the name of GATHERS and GETHERS. I still have many relatives in the Sumter, SC area. I also have some FRIERSONs in my family line.
