Susan Butcher Beaube

I have a copy of the census by Carter G. Woodson, however, I am certain you could find this at the genealogy room of your library. You really need to read the entire census with it's forward, notes, explanations. All I have is a copy of the Jefferson county Mississippi census from this book. I would be happy to share this with you. My grandmother was Eliza Beaube, daughter of James Beaube, who was son of Louis Beaube and Susan Butcher? Beaube. Susan would have been my Grandmothers, grandmother. How are you related? It is interesting to note that James Beaube is listed under the colored section of the marriage records (his marriage to Caroline Clanton). I would love to know Susan's race for sure, because I find nothing to indicate she was indian, but many records that lend to her being at least part black. I am also not sure that Butcher was her maiden name, for it has never been documented ( to my knowledge). It is legend. I never heard of indian ancestry from my grandmother, on the Beaube side. I have only heard of this in the last twenty years.Responses
