Susan Butcher Beaube
Posted by Dot Brown <angels1203@aol.com> on Tue, 22 Jun 2004
I recently ran across info posted by someone who is researching Susan Butcher? Beaube, that had her listed as a cherokee or choctaw indian, her birthplace as KY, her BD and Death date. I would like to know if any of that information has been documented, as the documented records I have, list her and her family as M for mulatto or Free negro. The two censuses I have has her birthplace as MD, and on the 1870 census, her son James Beaube Sr. has her birthplace as MD. The same James Beaube is listed in the colored marriage records in his second marriage to Caroline Clanton. I am also interested in knowing if the maiden name for Susan Beaube ( Butcher) has been documented. I believe that it is the 1870 or 1880 census that has Susan's daughter and ( Luminda Seymore) and Luminda's two sons, James and Washington, listed as free colored.Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
