trying trace history

I am very curious to know my history as far back as I possibly can. this not for any report or anything. I just beleive that for african americans to stake a claim to anything in this country we need to know the when, where and how's. I am located in richmond virginia. the futhest I can go back is to my grandfather whose name was archie pulliam and his brother henry. they were raised in the jackson ward area of richmond.
