Swint Genealogy

Posted by John Swint <jswint@fedsig.com> on Tue, 18 Dec 2001, in response to swint family of washington and upson county georgia and cass county, texas, posted by muhammad abdullah on Mon, 26 Nov 2001

My own genealogy starts in Holland with my grandparents in the late 1800's. While searching in America for possible relatives several years ago, I found several interesting facts about the Swint family. For a while, I was writing and calling everyone with the Swint name that I could find. I spoke to a lady in Georgia who had ancestors who were slaves and apparently they took the name of the slaver. In this country, the Swint family seems to have started in the south and spread into Texas and then up to Utah. Folks I,ve talked to have given me that impression. I suggest going to your local library and getting a telephone directory for somewhere in Georgia, perhaps Upson County or and adjoining county, and write to the Swints who live there. You would be surprised how much information you can get this way. Good Luck!
