KORNEGAY NAME

ACCORDING TO INFO I HAVE, THE EARLIEST KORNEGAY WAS GEORGE KORNEGAY OF CRAVEN COUNTY NC.HE WAS BORN IN GERMANY IN APPROX. 1697 AND DIED IN LATE 1773. HIS WILL WAS PROBATED IN CRAVEN CO.,NC ON NOV 29,1773. HIS FAMILY CAME TO AMERICA APRROX. 1709. HIS FAMILY WAS KILLED BY INDIANS IN 1711, AND HE WAS ADOPTED BY JACOB MILLER(MULLER), WHO WAS THE CLERK OF COURT IN CRAVEN CO. HIS FATHER WAS JOHN GEORGE HORNIGH. APPARENTLY, GEORGE'S NAME WAS CHANGED TO KORNEGAY AT THE TIME HE WAS ADOPTED.
