Slaves

I think that you may have some stories a little mixed up. If you go to the Ghana West Africa site and look at the "slave castles", you might get an idea about the awful life of a person who had been kidnapped and was awaiting the trip to "an unknown land." The slave did not really "renounce" his/her name, the slave, after captivity was GIVEN a new name of European origin, because many of the slave owners could not pronounce the African name and/or did not want the slave to keep their own identity. It was a way of destroying one completely by destroying the mind. There are books that will also tell you the truth about the slave trade and the life of a slave.Display message for printing | Print Entire Thread
