Hello Steve...Thank you so much for your reply. I have very little information about Joseph; limited family stories & a piece written about him as part of 'Napier Remembered, Memories of Metcalfe Township's Pioneer Community' by Ruth Merrick 1991. Although the story states that Joseph escaped in the late 1840's, I am unable to find him in Ontario until the 1861 census. He may have worked on Jacob Beer's estate for a time. If you can remember where you have seen the articles or come across them again I would greatly appreciate any information.
