source of the word "Africa"

Does this mean that Africa is literally the land without cold or the land that bears reasults of fertility? Africa is far more diverse than that. This term does not due our foreland justice.
would anyone know by chance some of the names and meanings of the contientent coming from some of the other native languages? Afterall it is only foreigners that refer to a land by a name or definition given from a foreign perspective.
