Response to name Sarah on list

Posted by luci borja <lucibugg@aol.com> on Wed, 10 Sep 2003, in response to African-American Rogers/Rodgers-Wake Co.NC, Late 1800's,Early 1900's, posted by Deloris Williams on Mon, 17 Feb 2003

Am researching Sarah probably Strickland (sounds like) who was a slave in the Wake co. (or surrounding areas) and time of birth would fit 1876 on your list as Sarah. Her husband's name was Ben (sounds like). He was probably a Strickland--both might have been, &/or slave owner name. Ben and Sarah's daugher was Pearl Strickland (1895) who married John Clark (1885). Pearl and Sarah lived in Johnston co., nc. Do you have any more info on Sarah? Does any of this info sound familiar? Pearl was said to come from "over the river" (from Johnston co. i.e. Wake co. area). John was from "over the creek" (Swift Creek?) in the Johnston Co. area. They died in Clayton, NC (johnston co.) where many of their relatives live today.
