Texas slaves
Posted by Chris Williams <WGodchild1@aol.com> on Fri, 01 Aug 2003, in response to slaves in polk/cass county, texas, posted by muhammad abdullah on Tue, 13 May 2003
Congradulations on your find. I am having trouble finding my great great grandfather before the 1900 census. I found him in the 1900 Smith County Texas census with his wife Mary and kids. His name is John Henry Williams. He was listed there as John W. Williams. I can't seem to locate him prior to 1900. He was born in 1849 in Texas. I know he died before 1910 because the 1910 census shows Mary as Head and as a widow. If you have time and better research equipment, would you mind taking a peek? He is found on page 113-01a with wife and kids: Lizzie, Eliza,John, Eli, Annie, and Annah. That's his son Thomas (Tom) right below Annah with his family and another brother Wade. If I can help you, just say so.Chris
