Looking for the parents of Silas West, NC

I am looking for my gg grandparents. My g grandparents were Silas West b. 1832-1833, d. 1900-1910 m. Winifred "Winnie" Barefoot b. 1840-1845, d. 1931. This family resided in Westbrook Township, Sampson County, NC. As you can see, Silas died before 1913. What is my next step to find these
parents? I have checked the 1840-1860 slave schedule, 1870-1880 census.I can't find a connection there. The family was stated as Mulatto for their race. Thanks.
