Hurst (Hust) Plantation
Posted by Ruth Reeves <rreeves20@aol.com> on Wed, 12 Sep 2001
I am looking searching for information on the Hurst (Hust) plantation which was located in the Buckeye area of Johnson or Lauren county Georgia. My ggrandmother was fathered by th plantation owner William (Bill) Hurst (Hust). Her name was Frances Hurst Mason. I was told by a researcher that I would have a difficulty time bcuz the white Hurst are in denial that their ancestors have slaves or fathered children by slaves. My problem is that my mother is buried on the Hurst (Hust) place which was once the plantation. She died in NY in 1941 and was taken back there and buried. I was 3 years old and never seen my mothers grave or area where she was buried. I probably wont be able to now bcuz I am disabled. That is all I want to do is know exactly where my mother is buried. My children or grands might want to visit there one day. All of the elders are gone on my mothers side of my family. I really wish someone would help me by emailing me Thank youRuth
