JIMMY/JAMES PARKER

Posted by WILLIAM H. CAIN <virgo44@earthlink.net> on Wed, 16 Apr 2003

I was born in Georgia but raised in Lumberton, NC. My mother, Sadie Mae Parker Smith was born and raised in Nichols, GA. For years I have suspected and told people that my mother was a GULLAH. My mother cooked rice everyday
and that is what made me become suspicious of her heritage. Lo and behold , we were talking the other day and she floored me when she told me that her grandfather, Jimmy/James Parker, was a GULLAH from South Carolina. He married a Lilly ? in Nichols, GA and had her mother and two other children. He died and is buried in Nichols GA.
Does anyone out there know of him or his family/relatives and what town he was from? I, too, am flattered and honored to know that I come from the Gullah heritage. If anyone knows anything, please contact me.
