NEELY ancestry
Posted by Michael Douglas <mdouglas43@mchsi.com> on Wed, 12 Feb 2003, in response to neely family, posted by THOMAS Z GARLAND on Wed, 02 Jan 2002
Thomas and Ruth (Hi Aunt Ruth!), I am a relative of yours'. Did you two know that you're related to one another? Please contact me. I may have information that you can use. By the way, I'm hot on the trail of the incident that led to Americus's lynching in 1889. I'm waiting to get an inter-library loan approved for microfilm of the Arkansas Gazette from that time.Thomas, how do you come into the Neely line? I'm a great-grandson of Judge Neely, Ruth's father. I'm the oldest grandson of Julia, Ruth's sister. By the way, Aunt Ruth, I think I have tracked down our ancestress, Pink Tyler, in the North Carolina 1820 Census of Free Colored Heads of Household.
The furthest back I've been able to get back in the Neely line is the 1880 U.S. Census. Anyone gone back further than that? I've also found a cousin and her family living in California! She is the granddaughter of Aytch, one of Judge's brothers. I'd like to put her in touch with y'all!
Hope someone is still monitoring this thread. Sorry for the personal notes. I'm just tickled to find family online.
