Vicki's Obituary - From the Post Register, Friday, September 10, 2004:

SHELLEY - Vicki Lee Smith, 49, of Shelley, Idaho, died Sept. 8, 2004, at her home of cancer.

She was born Dec. 27, 1954, in Redding, Calif., to Robert Earl Rodgers and Dixie Lee Moore Rodgers. She was raised in California and Oregon. She graduated in 1973 from Springfield High School in Springfield, Ore. She attended Oregon State University.

On Sept. 23, 1975, she married Robert William Smith in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived in Oregon, New Mexico, Missouri and Washington. They moved to Shelley in 1990. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in horticulture from the University of Idaho in 2003.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. She enjoyed genealogical research and was active in several genealogical societies and family history organizations. She hosted a weekly online genealogy chat room and served as librarian in LDS family history centers in Richland, Wash., and Idaho Falls.

She was involved in many community service activities, including committee work to improve neighborhoods and raise funds for schools, library story time for children, drug awareness programs, and committee positions with Cub and Boy Scouts organizations.

She worked as a preschool teacher. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, embroidery, painting with watercolors and oils, reading and genealogy research.

Survivors include her husband, Robert William Smith of Shelley; three sons, Aharon William Smith of Idaho Falls, Jonathan Christopher (Treva Jo) Smith of Spokane, Wash., and Benjamin Lloyd Smith of Shelley; her father, Robert (Jeanie) Rodgers of Redding, Calif.; her mother, Dixie (Edward) Owens of Bend, Ore.; and three sisters, Cheryl (Steve) Sutton of Springfield, Ore., and Rhonda Shauver and Tracy (James) Laubach, both of Bend, Ore.

Funeral services will be at noon at the Sand Creek Ward Chapel, 1101 E. 1250 North in Shelley, with Bishop Voyd Stewart officiating.

The family will visit with friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls, and for one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery.
