From one of us:
Each
month, I would like to publish a
short article coming from one of
YOU! It will be up to you to
chose the subject, as long as it
remains "genealogically
correct".
From
Bahai999,
with his
permission:
Fellow
CHARETTES/descendants of various
spellings:
The
reunion was a complete success.
Don't know the final tally but at
least 350 people were there.
Comments heard - "Wonderful
event", "Waiting for this type of
event for years", "When's the
next one", etc, etc. Friends met
friends, Friends met new friends,
Strangers became friends. What
more can be said!
Friday
night talent show. Charettes are
talented people; from violinists
to singers to
mimics.
Saturday
morning - cemetery visit rained
out although I heard some braved
the rain.
Saturday
afternoon - stories about
Charettes, history, folklore,
vignettes
Saturday
evening - supper followed by a
dance.
Sunday
morning - Mass at St Louis Church
in Fort Kent.
Sunday
noon and afternoon - Picnic in
Riverside park, Fort Kent and
then the Charette parade. After
the parade the cemetery
visit.
The
optional tours did take place
starting Tuesday. I believe they
were to go to Ile d'Orleans and
on the way back stop at various
Charette ancestor towns for
sightseeing.
Denis
Charest (St Damien Pq) and I (CT)
had our computers available for
anyone who wished to check on
their lines and also to input
data.
There
was a two volume set of books
published (one historical, one
genealogical).
The
genealogical book (almost
exclusively compiled by Pat
Dionne) contains 647 pages of
data in descending format.
Several sources were used to
compile this, mainly from
Ancestor sheets submitted by the
participants. Also Drouin,
Tanguay, Jette, and other
reference books were
used.
The
historical book (compiled by
Claude Charette) has 429 pages of
information, well worth reading:
origins, immigration, Aroostook
County ME, Civil War veteran,
etc.
I
am sure that some items are still
for sale. check out the following
site.

(Gil Charette)
Everyone
had a wonderful
time.
There
are plans in the making for the
establishment of a Charette
Family Association. If any of you
are interested, let me know. The
first letter has not gone out
yet.
Feel
free to relay this to anyone you
wish.

Thomas
(And I am not a Charette, however
married to one)
