Each
month I try to send out a short
"newsletter" (for lack of a
better term) to our Kentucky
chatters with newly found
Kentucky web sites or info I have
come across or been sent in some
of my mailing lists. If you are
interested in adding your name to
our mailing list, please email me
and I will be happy to do
so.
My
boss here on the GFNEWS suggested
I include the newsletter from
August. Hope it helps
someone:
Happy
August, Everyone!
I
sure have collected a lot for you
this month. Actually, I would
have sent some of this
separately, but most of you know
I have been having AOL problems
and I feel I am lucky just to
have salvaged all your addresses
(THANKS Bill and Lynda
<G>).
For
those of you new to our mailing
list, I try not to overload your
mailboxes and will only send out
a "newsletter" (for lack of a
better word) like this about 2-3
times a month. If you know of any
other Kentucky researchers who
might be interested in receiving
this, please let me know. Also
FYI, I have a running list of the
surnames we are all looking for
in Kentucky. If you haven't sent
me your surnames yet and want to
be included, send them to me
soon. I have been updating and
hope to send a revised list out
soon. Be sure to include the
county
Also
for those of you who are new, I
keep a running list of websites
(not just Kentucky sites) that
might help you with your
genealogy. Anyone interested in
receiving this can email me. Just
so you know, tho, it is an
attachment! I think it is now
about 37-38 pages
long.
And
away we
go.........

RELATIONSHIPS:
When
you're trying to figure out
relationships, it's sometimes
difficult to determine whether a
person is a third cousin, fourth
cousin, fifth cousin, and so on.

OUR
FORUM NEWSLETTER:
Another
month gone already. Our August
Newsletter is ready and waiting
for all of you to enjoy. August
2000 Genealogy Forum News A new
feature that I especially like is
from HOST GFS HOPE called The Tip
of the Month. She runs the
"Basics" SIGS here in our
Genealogy Forum and has started a
column to help us learn just
about anything we want to know
about this pesky box sitting on
our desks. She has helped me with
several things. Just those pesky
little things that we just can't
seem to figure out on our own,
like how to cut and paste or
organize our address books or
favorite places (THAT'S the one
that helped me the most
<G>!). So check out our
newsletter this month and
remember ANYONE can submit an
article for the newsletter, or
ask HOST GFS Hope a question, or
write a letter for the mailbag.
We are already looking for
articles for our September issue
and we would welcome one from any
of you. Remember: You don't have
to be Hemmingway or Danielle
Steele or even Laura Ingalls
Wilder. Upon request, the staff
will edit for spelling, etc. The
articles we are looking working
on for September are "BACK TO
SCHOOL". If you want to start
thinking about an article for
October, that subject is "OUR
SUMMER HARVEST" .
I
received this notice on one of my
mailing lists and have already
signed up to be a volunteer. If
any of you have resources that
might help, I hope you will
consider volunteering to help do
lookups for the address below....
<G>
Hello!!
I
have created a Website of
Volunteers who will do various
types of Look Ups such as Census,
Cemetery, Marriage, and much
more. I even have a message board
for people to post messages
looking for family information. I
am also looking for new
volunteers to help out to do look
ups. Please tell everyone you
know that is doing genealogy. The
more people who visit the website
and use it, the longer it will
stay online.
