GFSMaria@aol.com and GFSJill@aol.com are taking the proverbial bull by the horns ;) and hosting the Michigan chat once more on Monday nights in the Root Cellar. (9-10:00 eastern) Please tell everyone you know with Michigan roots to stop by and join us! We used to have a faithful few and we hope they will return as well as some newbies. ;) Thanks!
Meet Others with Great Lake State Ancestry in the Root Cellar!
This fall grab a crunchy, juicy Michigan apple and join GFS Jill and GFS Maria as we talk about tracing those Michigan roots! We'll fill you in on the latest Michigan genealogy and history sites, who is researching which surnames and what counties, and how you can help your fellow family researchers by sharing your findings. The Michigan SIG meets each Monday night at 9:00 for an hour.
Generally we are in open chat about Michigan origins, surnames, etc. Every so often I do what we call a "Michigan Minute." I have a text file set to run about some famous person, event, place, or other interesting fact in Michigan history or I talk about some Michigan genealogy how-tos. (Some of the past Michigan Minutes can be found at the bottom of my Great Lake State Origins website: http://members.aol.com/gfsjill/jmich.html (Link Invalid 2006)). We are always looking for new Michigan genealogy and history links, book suggestions, personal research experiences, and other good stuff to help our fellow researchers out!
Upcoming Michigan Minute topics:
- The Weather Your Michigan Ancestors Lived Through
- Who Settled the U.P.?
- A Lighthouse Keeper's Lot and Log
