September Forum Anniversaries:
- GFS EllJay and GFH Sharon have both been moved to our inactive list at this time. GFS Marcia is back and active again - great news!
- GFS Heather is taking a LOA but will return! GFS Taz is leading Beginners SIGS until then.
- Our newest GFS is wearing her new hat - GFHJackieC is now....GFS Jackie!
- GFS Heather had begun a new job as Assistant Chat Manager helping GFS Joe organize and trouble shoot the chat room schedules - and what a job that is!
- GFS Gary is our interim Newsletter Editor while GFS Carol is taking a break from it all - help Gary out and send him articles. Short and sweet are good - be "famous" and submit something!
- Our web page was here, then gone and is now back. The Internet Center has moved there and GFS Brenda and her team are madly working on improvements and transfers. Don't panic though, the web page is NOT to replace the Genealogy Forum on AOL - we are just spreading our wings a bit to reach more people and hopefully draw them in.
- While I was on my Indiana genealogy trip this summer, I wore my Forum golf shirt from the Valley Forge conference several years ago - what a conversation starter in libraries! Everyone asked about it and the forum and research, etc. If you are interested in one of these shirts, check out the Forum store. I've had a lot of fun with mine.
- Start thinking of the December holidays now (no groans,please!) and see if you can organize a page of family pictures to send out with your cards. I did a family tree (literally - just your basic pine tree shape) one year with ancestor's pictures and got back all sorts of stories about the grandparents listed. (Okay, I cheated and sent it the first week in December to get people motivated to write me about them but it worked!) No time like that "lull" between school starting and Halloween costumes to think genealogy :)
- Have a great fall - the trees are turning early due to the northeastern drought but I enjoy them all the same.
