Ancestor
Forwarded by GFSCindy@aol.com

I walk through this sacred burial place
Searching for your final resting space
Scan faded tombstones for your name
Find it seldom spelled the same
Nothing on you in the books
Not one photo on your looks
Tombstone leaning to the side
Three rows back I find your bride
Lichen covered letters show neglect on care
Markers partially missing here and there
I powder puff the inscription to bring it to view
Make a photograph of what is left on you
In a weeded fence row some old markers lie
Counted 27 and piled two feet high
Broken stones from the mowers slice
Cracks from freezing and thawing ice
I will preserve your message carved in stone
For you are in my flesh and bone
Where you are now, I must onetime be
I wonder what they'll find on me.
