A Hearty Invitation from Wolverine State Researchers
submitted by GFSJill@aol.com

  • Do you have French Canadian ancestors who worked their way into Michigan somewhere along the line?

  • Did your New England family travel on the Erie Canal and keep on going until they hit Coldwater?

  • Did your forebears come over from the Netherlands and settle in Allegan County?

  • OR maybe you had a Norwegian, Finnish, or German great-great grandfather who worked the mines or timber in the U.P.

Whatever your Great Lake State family origins, you are always welcome to join GFSMaria@aol.com, GFSCarlaD@aol.com, and GFSJill@aol.com each Monday night from 9:00-10:00 eastern time in the Root Cellar as we discuss and share our Michigan roots. Learn about the ethnic groups who settled the state and what drew them. Send us some of your favorite Michigan websites and places to research. Surnames will be shared, Michigan family research vacations will be planned, and we'll all have a good time as we learn a thing or two about our families who settled in the Winter, Water, Wonderland!

SUMMERTIME MICHIGAN MINUTE TOPICS MAY INCLUDE:

  • The Lumber Era

  • Scottish and Irish Immigrants to Michigan

  • Ancestors who Sailed the Lakes

  • A Brief History of Ottawa County

  • What I Did on my Michigan Summer Vacation!

Your input/ideas are more than welcome. :)
