FamilySearch.org Debuts!

By far the biggest news this month has been the official debut of the LDS Family History Library's Web site known as FamilySearch Online. Its located at:
http://www.familysearch.org

Now you can search both the IGI (for US, ENG & Finland so far) AND the Ancestral File at the same time, using the main search screen. No more disk swapping at your local LDS FHCenter! I plan to go to my FHC only to order and view microfilm/microfiche of original documents such as church, vital, military, land and court records.

If you'd like to learn more about how to use the site check out the following articles:

This is the URL for a very helpful website. It is a 10,000 year calendar. If you have an obituary or a birth, marriage certificate and you want to know what DAY the date fell on, go here. 10,000-Year Calendar!
http://calendarhome.com/tyc/

You can choose the month and year and it will give you the calendar for that time and you can see what day - say the 25th fell on in the year 1890 or 1943, etc.
