Southern US Resource Center
submitted by GFSBrenda@aol.comThe Southern Resource Center comprises the fifteen states that we consider to be either South Eastern or Mid South, AL, AR, FL, GA, KS, KY, LA, MS, MO, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, and VA. This Resource Center is huge!
As with other resource centers in the Genealogy Forum, there are 5 main sections:
File Libraries, many of which are broken down by state.
Message Boards
a section for general things helpful to anyone doing genealogy, such as websites for national organizations, etc.
Websites, divided first by state, and further into counties, USGenWeb links, online census and cemetary transcriptions, etc. Also an alphabetical section of surname page links
state and county specific information. This section is filled with land addresses and a few documents, like DearMYRTLE's Virginia Suggestions, descriptions of court records and an article on Missouri's Western Historical Manuscript Collection. You'll also find fact sheets for each state
As new material for genealogical resources becomes available, we'll expand this section. All are welcome to submit their websites or local genealogy society addresses for us to include at any time!
