Dad's
Mysterious Background
Submitted
by George Howe, HostGFSMaine@aol.com
Dad was in his forties when I was born, so he
didn't get to actually grow up with me.
He never
rode a bike, yet was able to teach sis and
me how to. He played baseball in his younger years (semi-Pro) and that I
didn't learn until lately, yet while I was growing up he was always ready to teach me something.
Just before I went to the military,
Dad recalled that his folks had told him he was adopted, and while I was in the Army, he started looking for the birth family.
About the time he found someone, I was getting out of the Army and he asked me to look into it for him. He passed away just after his
65th birthday and I went looking after
that..the fellow he found, who might have been his brother, had passed away in the same hospital as Dad had, one month to the day before he
did... so the mystery still stands,
Dad: George Norwood Howe, adopted at the age of
"about 3 or 5 yrs old" from an 'orphanage' in Portland ,
Maine...where there is no history of an
orphanage.
Quite a mystery indeed. I am looking all the
time.
