ren. = renatus, renata (baptized, christened)
spur. = spurius, spuria (illegitimate)
eod. = eodem (the same)
err. = errechnet (approximated)
ux. = uxor (wife)
vid. = viduus, vidua (widower, widow)
wwer. = witwer (widower)
wwe. = witwe (widow)
N.N. = nomen nescio (name not known)
S.d. = Sohn des, Sohn der (son of)
S.v. = Sohn von (son of)
T.d. = Tochter des, Tochter der (daughter of)
T.v. = Tochter von (daughter of)
u.d. = und des, und der (and of)
ehel. = ehelich (legitimate)
unehel. = unehelich (illegitimate)
maennl. = maennlich (masculine)
weibl. = weiblich (feminine)
verh. = verheiratet (married)
geb. = geboren (born); maiden name
get. = getauft (baptized, christened)
gest. = gestorben (died)
verl. = verlobt (engaged)
getr. = getraut (married)
verh. oo = verheirated (married)
Lw = Landwirt / farmer
Evg. = Evangelisch / evangelist (of the Evangelical church) = Lutheran
Kath. = Katholisch (Catholic)
Luth. = Lutheranisch (Lutheran)
Bez. = Bezirk (district)
K.B. = Kirchenbuch (church book)
Kr. = kreis (county, district)

[ ] = buried (the symbol is a rectangle lying down)
* = geboren (born)
(*) = unehehelich geboren (born illegitimate)
~~ = getauft (baptized, christened)
o = verlobt (engaged)
oo = marriage, married
o|o = geschieden (divorced)
o-o = freie Verbindung (common law marriage; illegitimate)
X = gefallen (killed in action)
Xus or Xg = Christus (Christ)
Xian or Xiang = Christian or Christianus
