Grandma's Carrot Pudding

This is a great topic! Here's a recipe from my grandmother, Velva Ruby (Lyons) Yancey:
CARROT PUDDING
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup raw, grated carrots
1 cup raw, grated potatoes
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped apples or applesauce
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 & 1/2 cups bread crumbs
1 cup chopped nuts
Mix all ingredients together. Fill a container (such as an empty can) about 2/3 full. Steam cook for 3 hours. Serve warm with whipped cream.
