Ancestral Seasonings
Bread and Butter Pickles
Submitted by: seauall@aol.com (Seauall)
If you are crazy about bread & butter pickles, then here is an excellent recipe (although some of you may think it is crazy, it comes from a friend, Ma'ma who is 85 yrs old). The reason she makes them like this is the cost -CHEAPER than buying small individual bottles.
- Take a 1-Gallon jar of hamburger dills (sliced) (Whichever variety that is crunchy to begin with - like Kroger's brand)
- Add: 4-5lb bag of sugar
- Turn the jar - once a week for 3 weeks. (If it is sitting on it's bottom - then turn it on it's top.)
- They are so GOOD, you can't eat just one !
A variation: add about 8-10 cloves of Garlic - Sliced.....UM UM UM UM
