3 CONC in the Fall of 1780 and was called a "three month man". The Company
3 CONC was commanded by Wade Wheeler. He served three mos and was discharged
3 CONC at Fishkill in the State of New York--but did not receive a written
3 CONC discharge. The Company was paraded in front of the yellow church in
3 CONC that town and  all discharged at one time.

3 CONT That he resided at the time he entered service at Nine Partners,
3 CONC Dutchess Co. New York, that he was not engaged in any regular battles,
3 CONC that he marched from Dutchess Co. (Nine Partners) to Fishkill on the
3 CONC north whence he remained until he was discharged. that he has no
3 CONC documentary evidence and that he knows of no person whose testimony he
3 CONC can procure, who can testify as to his service--that he again entered
3 CONC the service of the United States as a "three month man" in the month
3 CONC of July 1781--that his company was commanded at this time by Capt.
3 CONC John Harmonts and the Regiment by Col. Livingston, that he served at
3 CONC this time three months, and was discharged on the 15th day of October
3 CONC 1781. that he resided at that time he signed up at Nine Partners, that
3 CONC he was not engaged at any battles at this time, that he marched from
3 CONC Nine Partners to Fishkill, from Fishkill to West Point, from thence to
3 CONC Story Point, from thence to Topan Bay, from thence to Albany and from
3 CONC Albany to Fort Edwards, whence he was discharged.

3 CONT   At Albany, the regiment was divided--part going up the Mohawk and a
3 CONC part to Fort Edmond (Edward). During the time we layed over at Fort
3 CONC Edward the British came within two miles of us and encamped near Sandy
3 CONC Hill doing considerable damage as they piped through the country. The
3 CONC day after the British left Sandy Hill they made an attack upon Fort
3 CONC George and I believe took it--He has no documentary evidence of this
3 CONC service and he knows of no person whose testimony he can pursue, who
3 CONC can testify to his service. He now resides at Mecca, Trumbull Co.,
3 CONC Ohio. He supposed he was drafted into the service.
3 CONT
3 CONT  I am known in my present neighborhood by the Rev. David Campbell a
3 CONC clergyman residing in Mecca and Thadius P. St.John residing in same
3 CONC place, hereby certify, that they are well acquainted with James Cook
3 CONC who has subscribed and sworn to the above declaration, that we believe
3 CONC him to be seventy years of age, that he is reputed and believed in the
3 CONC neighborhood where he resides to have been a soldier of the Revolution
3 CONC and that we concur in that opinion. The said Court does hereby declare
3 CONC their opinion after the investigation of the matter, and after putting
3 CONC the investigations prescribed by the War Department that the above
3 CONC affiant was a Revolutionary Soldier and served as he states-and the
3 CONC Court further certifies that it appears to them that David Campbell
3 CONC who has signed the preceding certificate is a clergyman resident in
3 CONC Mecca - that Thadius P. St.John who has signed the same is a resident
3 CONC in the same place as is a credible person and that their statements
3 CONC are entitled to credit.  Signed George Parsons, Clerk of the Trumbull
