Other submitals show that James Orin Lamb 2 CONT may have been born in Wethersfield, however the data we have looked at in the 2 CONT area would show that his Father resided in Sheldon, Genesee County, 2 CONT Wethersfield and Sheldon are a few miles apart. Best research shows James Orrin 2 CONT was the oldest of the two boys. 1 NOTE ! James Orrin Lamb was born in Wethersfield, New York, 19 Aug 1925 the sone 2 CONT of James Lamb. He was the youngest of three. His brother Osmer Lamb born 10 2 CONT Jan 1928 and a sister Vernessa born 1824. 1 NOTE ! At the age of two and half years he lost his father and was bound out. Being 2 CONT cruelly treated he ran away to sea when fifteen and during twelve years of life 2 CONT on shipboard he visited every country on the globe. On his last voyage as 2 CONT first mate he was shipwrecked in sight of home and for hours clung to the 2 CONT frozen rigging of his ship. When with a few others he was rescued. While in 2 CONT this situation he promised the Lord that if permitted to set foot on land once 2 CONT more, he would never ship again -- a promise which he faithfully kept. 1 NOTE !He was married to Mary Jane Fillmore, 21 Feb 1854. 1 NOTE !They went with a train to Salt Lake City in 1861, but being unable to 2 CONT affiliate with the Mormons he started with his wife and three children for 2 CONT California in 1866. After great hardships and danger of indians they arrived 2 CONT in San Bernadino almost destitute. But being blessed with good health he went 2 CONT to work and soon had a comfortable home. 1 NOTE ! He moved to Los Angeles in 1871 and while there he received the news of his 2 CONT mother's death at the age of 98 years. 1 NOTE ! In 1898 he removed to Fallbrook where he resided until the time of his death. 2 CONT James was the father of ten children, 3 girls and 7 boys. 1 NOTE ! James was a materialist and lived and died consistant with that belief. 1 NOTE ! He died 17 Jun 1905 age 79 years, 9 months, and 29 days. And was buried in 2 CONT Fallbrook, Calif. Andrew Lamb 1 NOTE !Johnsonsburgh:" This village was named after George Johnson, who caused the 2 CONT first post-office to be established here, and who opened the first store. The 2 CONT village is partly Orangeville and is treated in the history of that town." 1 NOTE !"Lyman Tuttle came to Johnsonsburgh in 1814. At that time there were "five log 2 CONT houses and a shanty". The first store was opened in 1827. The first school was 2 CONT opened in 1821, by Trumbull Hurlbut, in a log dwelling house. Lyman and Ransom 2 CONT Tuttle attended this school. In 1824 the first school house (framed) was built. 2 CONT Isaac Lamb built the first frame house. One Martin built the first grist mill." 2 CONT !Wyoming county History; 1841 to 1888" 1 NOTE !Cemeteries: "In an early day there was a public burying ground opened in 2 CONT Orangeville near Johnsonsburgh. No deed, however, was ever given to the land. 2 CONT The farm containing it changed hands and the ground was not perserved. About 2 CONT the year 1830 Isaac Lamb opened to the public half an acre of land nearly nalf 2 CONT of a mile southwest from the village for burial purposes, but retained the 2 CONT ownership. Jonathan Head bought the land, and on May 14th, 1864, deeded the 2 CONT original half acre, with an additional half acre, to the First Methodist 2 CONT Episcopal Society of Johnsonsburgh. On 26th of March, 1879, he added one and a 2 CONT half acres, and the Society deeded the ground to the Johnsonsburgh Cemetery 2 CONT Association. In 1830 most of the 2 CONT bodies in the old Orangeville graveyard were transferred to this." 2 CONT !Wyoming County History; 1841 to 1888 1 NOTE !Genesee County deed recorded in 1810, Dec 28 shows that Isaac Lamb resided in 2 CONT Otsego County prior to his move to Genesee county. The area of residence is now 2 CONT in Wyoming County as this county was formed splitting the Genesee county in 2 CONT 1841. !Deed recorded in the Genesee County Court House at Batvia, New York. 1 NOTE !Deed recorded in Otsego County; Otsego County was organized in 1791. 2 CONT Apparently land was deeded prior to 1791 but not recorded. The first deed in 2 CONT the Lamb Families appears to be this one, signed 8 April 1797, recorded 17 Sep 2 CONT 1807 in the County of Otsego. We made a search in Mongomery County, New York for deeds that might have been 2 CONT recorded pror to 1791 and found no deeds with Issac and Martha as Grantee's 2 CONT prior to that date." 1 NOTE !We followed the 1790 census data to Dutches County New York and found that two 2 CONT Isaac Lambs were in Dutches Co. One was in Northeast town Shows Male (over 2 CONT the age of Sixteen, head of house and one Female; and one male under the age of 2 CONT sixteen. Theis data fits the profile of our Isaac and Martha Lamb and their 2 CONT first child Sylvanus. The other Isaac Lamb held property in Amenia or Oblong 2 CONT which is in thew Township of Amenia. We were able to project his birth at or 2 CONT about 1740 based on his failure to keep some contracted money obligations based 2 CONT on a review of the Dutches County "Ancient Record" file that show several debt 2 CONT problems in the 1760"s time period. Files were so badly deteriating that it was 2 CONT impossible to make copies with the standard reproduction machines. Verla has a 2 CONT Lamb family research file that projects the Isaac Lamb we are interested in to 2 CONT have migrated from the Groton and New London Towns of Connecticut. Their belief 2 CONT is that the two 1790 Isaac Lambs of Dutches County are not related.
